A variant of a 'Bradel' German Binding with a rounded back, made in Quarter Leather Cover.
Often described as the quintessential German binding structure, this binding is precise and adaptable to allow for the use of different covering materials on the spine and boards.
Be introduced to making a book with a luxurious leather, complete with beautidul decorative marbled paper. This course provides you with all the techniques needed for refining and practicing these skills.
Over one intensive day you will learn how to make:
i) A German Hardbound book, covered with a leather spine, with marbled papers.
• Sew sections onto tapes to make a book block
• Round and back your book block
• Be introduced to leather paring, then covering your book with leather in quarter bound style (with corners) and casing in.
• Create raised bands
• Experiment with Blind tooling and finishing techniques
Time: 9.30am - 4.30pm
All materials and tools are supplied at the Bindery, along with self-serve tea, coffee and biscuits. Lunch - toasted sandwiches can be pre-ordered.

Holding deposit confirms your place and are non-refundable. Should you change your mind, it is transferable within 12 months onto another course or in credit for materials and tools. You will receive an invoice for the rest of the amount owing 2 weeks before the commencement of class.
