Designer Fine Binding - covering and preparing a book for Gold finishing.
Making this book to which I refer to as a 'Designer Fine Binding' is a good education in observation, attention to details and meticulous workmanship - all essential wherever your interest in bookbinding lies. It is an epitome of your skills as a binder and the finished result is often used for competitions and exhibitions.
Throughout this course, you will be guided through the sequence involved in making a fully bound book in Morocco leather. The book fully covered in leather will have leather jointed end papers, sewn headbands, gilt edges and edge-to-edge doublures.

Time - 9.30am - 4.00pm each day
All materials and tools are supplied at the Bindery.
Bottled water, Tea, coffee and biscuits are provided free for you to help yourself throughout the day.
For those who have completed Level 3 and above.
This is an intensive, Master-level workshop for students skilled with traditional binding. Students must be able to perform the following tasks proficiently and promptly: mark up, sew on supports, glue up, measure and apply spine linings, sew endbands, pare leather for a full leather binding, cover a full leather binding.
