Suitability:
For those who have completed Level 3 and above.

Please note, good eye/hand coordination and good dexterity are necessary for this course as sharp knives are used in the cutting of board and paper.
You will be shown correct procedure in the use of these tools but good co-ordination will assure accurate cutting and prevention of injury.

Course Information:
Making this book to which I refer to as a 'Designer Fine Binding' is a good education in observation, attention to details and meticulous workmanship - all essential wherever your interest in bookbinding lies. It is an epitome of your skills as a binder and the finished result is often used for competitions and exhibitions.

Course content
Throughout this course, you will be guided through the sequence involved in making a fully bound book in Morocco leather. The book fully covered in leather will have leather jointed end papers, sewn headbands, gilt edges and leather doublure. This Binding is the epitome of bookbinding in this century.

Learning outcome:
By the end of this course you should be able to:
• Complete a fully bound leather book
• Sewn headbands
• Gilt Edging
• Make and attach leather jointed end papers
• Insert leather doublure

HOLDING DEPOSIT:
Holding deposit confirms your place and are non-refundable. Should you change your mind, it is transferable within 12 months onto another course or in credit for materials and tools. You will receive an invoice for the rest of the amount owing 2 weeks before the commencement of class.
