This workshop focus on gorgeous spine work with multiple section sewing, a complex and very beautiful stitch that is sewn onto tapes and the book block.
You will learn how to make:
A book covered with luxurious shimmery book cloth and decorative papers all the way from the Netherlands, sewn with ivory paper inserts.
• Keep your design traditional or interpret the technique with a more modern twist, • Learn a wealth of fun decorative possibilities to add to your binding repertoire.
• Make this decorative sewing a part of your binding expression

Tools you will need:
A paper cutting knife (straight-blade)
Magazines for waste paper
Materials you will need:
24 pieces A4 paper (at least 110gsm) short grain, folds down to A6
1 x A4 Bookboard
1 x Bookcloth A4
1 x decorative paper A4
1 x Buckhram A5 or cotton tape
Closing date for booking for those requiring materials delivery in the Sydney Metro areas is 4 days before class commences.

A full materials pack couriered out to you, free post (no tools except needles).
Select individual Premium tools or standard tool for purchase as necessary.
Should you choose to gather your own tools and materials, please ensure that all tools and materials are on hand within easy reach during the workshop. You will be expected to have everything on the list, or improvised at your own responsibility.
This is a technical workshop. The workshop requires a certain level of capability and confidence in using sharp instruments and being able to follow verbal instructions is expected.
No refunds for Online workshops once commenced. A Zoom link shall be sent out to you a few days before. We shall start gathering students 10 minutes before the workshop. Lateness shall not be accommodated.
