Wunderkammer - Wild Binding! - 27th June 2020
Take a walk on the wild side with this fun and resourceful class of bindings in miniature - all under 3 inches! We will have a play with lots of different 'wild' leathers to work with - goanna, cane toad, emu, ostrich, eel, to name a few and bind them with a 'Quick leather binding technique' developed by Master Bookbinder Isabelle McGowan. Go home with a little library of mini books cased in a specially made box!
Over one intensive day you will learn how to make:
i) 6 variations of a Bradel style Bookbinding technique in miniature, using different leathers and decorative papers
ii) A keepsake box to house all the little books in
• You will get to use a variety of leathers and learn how to apply them to the construction of a miniature book.
Time: 9.30am - 4.30pm
All materials and tools are supplied at the Bindery, along with self-serve tea, coffee and biscuits.
Ideally you would have completed an Introductory course in Bookbinding
Please note, the workshop requires good hand-eye co-ordination, fine motor skills and cutting with sharp knife, students must have capability and confidence with this. You should be able to follow verbal instructions and health and safety information. Have basic numeracy to do accurate measurements and calculations.

Holding deposit confirms your place and are non-refundable. Should you change your mind, it is transferable within 12 months onto another course or in credit for materials and tools. You will receive an invoice for the rest of the amount owing 2 weeks before the commencement of class.
