Step into the enchanting world of traditional teddy bear making with Isabelle, a former artisan from the esteemed English Teddy Bear Company in London. In this immersive full-day workshop, participants will embark on a journey of creativity and nostalgia, learning to craft their very own jointed teddy bear using time-honored techniques.

From 9:30 am to 3.30 pm, with small breaks interspersed, participants will delve into the art of teddy bear making, guided by Isabelle's expertise. Learn to create a miniature bear standing between 3" to 6" tall, using authentic materials such as real mohair fabric, glass eyes, and weight pellets.

Throughout the workshop, Isabelle will teach essential skills, including laying out pattern pieces, cutting fabric, sewing, stuffing, and adding finishing touches like embroidered noses and eyes. Participants will also master the art of joining the teddy bear for that classic jointed look.

All tools and materials needed for the workshop will be provided, including English or German mohair, teddy bear patterns, glass eyes, suede pieces, stuffing, stuffing pellets, embroidery thread, needles, long nose pliers, and sewing thread.

Please note:

  • Suitable for beginners, however hand sewing required!

  • All materials and tools provided, including tea, coffee and biscuits.

  • This is a technical workshop, anyone with enthusiasm for sewing is welcome to join in. Some hand sewing experience is ideal or a willingness to learn. The workshop requires a certain level of capability and confidence in using sharp instruments and being able to follow verbal instructions is expected.
