These elegant journals are perfect for writing, sketching, gifting, or as the foundation for artist books.

In this class, participants will learn:

• Multiple section sewing techniques

• Rounding the spines

• Creating a hardcover

• Introduction to working with leather

• Casing your books

Upon completion of the workshop, participants will depart with their own hand-bound journal adorned with a leather spine and the skills to continue crafting at home with minimal equipment.

Please note:

• This class is rated Level 1 in our course programme. As such it is NOT beginner-friendly.

• Level 1 courses focus on traditional bookbinding and after 1A and 1B, does not have to be taken consecutively.

• This is a very technical workshop which requires a high level of capability and confidence in using sharp instruments and being able to follow verbal instructions is expected. You will need to have completed at lease one of our Level 1 courses (1A or 1B) or already have good bookbinding skills, especially in sewing a multiple section book.
