Master the Craft of Fine Binding next session starting on the 6th August

$0.00

Join a small group of dedicated bookbinders for an in-depth, hands-on course in fine leather binding. Over ten sessions, you’ll rebind a set of books (3-5) in the traditional quarter-leather style, complete with marbled covers, raised bands, gold tooling, and a custom slipcase.

Led by master bookbinder and gold finisher Isabelle, this course is designed for those with prior experience who are ready to refine their craft. You'll develop your leather paring skills, practise gold tooling, and learn to construct an elegant, historically-informed 19th Century English style fine-binding.

Limited to four students per intake. Applications now open.

Each session runs for 4 hours from 10am - 2pm or 1pm to 5pm, with flexible scheduling; weekly, fortnightly, or monthly; to suit your pace. All ten sessions must be completed within 18 months. No homework required, just come ready to work.

The total course fee is $4,500, payable by the session at $450 per session. All materials and use of tools are included, except for leather and gold leaf which you will need to purchase separately.

First induction class is on the 6th of August or 13th of August and we’ll go from there.
