Join Our Book Repair & Restoration Workshop
Date: 14th June 2025
Time: 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM
Cost: $150 per student, $50 Wild Binder (no materials)
Discover the art of book repair and restoration in this essential introductory workshop! Bring your cherished books and learn step-by-step techniques to bring them back to life.
What You'll Learn
With expert guidance, you'll explore various skills based on the condition of the books you bring. Techniques may include:
Repairing damaged paper using Japanese paper techniques
Restoring and touching up leather bindings
Re-attaching broken spines
Cleaning and refreshing book covers and pages
Ironing and repairing tears on paper
Removing tapes and other debris
And much more!
What to Expect
This workshop is an introduction to book repair techniques. Proficiency will require ongoing practice and additional sessions.
As the session is limited to three hours, we recommend attending multiple workshops to deepen your skills.
All work must be completed on-site; no materials will be provided to take home.
What to Bring
A variety of books to practice on (the more diverse, the better!)
Important Information
All materials, tools, tea, coffee, and biscuits will be provided.
No prior experience in repair work is necessary, but we do recommend completing our beginner and once case-binding courses with us first. Why? Because understanding how a book is constructed is essential; if you don’t know how it’s put together, how can you begin to take it apart and repair it with care?
Confidence in using sharp instruments and the ability to follow instructions are essential.
Suitable for those with basic crafting skills, such as cutting, folding, and measuring.
Refunds are not available for changes of mind. Please review our Terms and Conditions before booking.
