Learn how to give a much loved book a new life using the traditional case binding method.
In this practical workshop, you will learn how to carefully dismantle a book, prepare the text block, and construct a new hard cover using leather and marbled paper.
It is not simply a matter of cutting off the old cover and putting on a new one. We will cover the essential techniques of case binding, including sewing, rounding the spine, spine lining and making hollows, before constructing and attaching the finished case.
You will also learn how to typeset a title and hand print it in gold foil, adding a beautiful finishing touch.
This workshop is ideal for anyone wanting to learn the fundamentals of rebinding and develop the skills needed to repair and restore books.
Please bring a sewn book.

This class is suitable for those who can follow verbal and visual instructions and have basic crafting skills such as cutting, folding, and measuring.
This class is not suitable for those with no bookbinding experience, completing a Beginner class is recommended.
