In this workshop, participants will learn the slotted binding technique, using a specific horizontal stitch to secure the signatures together. This creates an exposed spine with visible stitching along the slots.
Paper has long been a versatile and durable material for book covers, enabling binders to create both simple and intricate structures. This workshop series focuses on bindings that are elegant and minimalist, stripped down to their essential elements. Gone are the tasks of excessive paring, sanding, lining, or infilling; only what is necessary for the book’s functionality is included. The result is a structure that is both visually striking and functionally robust.
