Welcome to The Gathering
The Gathering is a practical, hands on creative meet up for anyone who wants to build artistic skills while filling sketchbook pages with confidence.
If you have ever wanted to fill a sketchbook, create pages you value, and build a record of ideas, this is for you. This is where sketchbooks stop feeling difficult and start becoming something you return to.
What The Gathering Is
Filling a sketchbook is not just practice. It is an art form in itself.
The Gathering is a series of small, focused creative sessions designed to help you build inspiring pages, artistic skills, and creative confidence one step at a time. Each workshop is centred around real techniques, experimentation with materials, and discovering new ways of working, while still leaving space for your own style to unfold.
Small steps add up. Page by page, you create a body of work that is your own.
What We Will Make
Each session includes a sketchbook booklet with prompts, designed by us, that you will work in throughout the workshop.
We begin with colour theory exercises where you will learn how to build custom colour palettes, mix clean and vibrant colours, and how to work with softer or unexpected tones without the colours becoming muddy.
From there, we move into making.
You will be guided through creative prompts that explore a range of art techniques, which may include:
Carving, making, and building stories through stamping and printing.
Gathering ideas and turning them into expressive pages through drawing and illustrations.
Working quickly and freely with colour, pen, ink, and watercolour, alongside mixed media exploration.
Collage, layering, textures, colours, painting and much more.
What to Expect
Each session is structured yet relaxed, with a natural rhythm that keeps things moving without feeling rushed.
You will be guided clearly at every stage, while always being encouraged to explore, adapt, and follow your own ideas.
There is no pressure to get things right. This is about building confidence, finding momentum, and maintaining a sketchbook practice that feels enjoyable and sustainable.
